Meet Jo – My Journey into Permanent Makeup

After more than 28 years working in the beauty industry, my journey into Permanent Makeup felt like a very natural next step.

I’m Jo, the face behind The Beauty Room, and I’m passionate about helping women feel confident, comfortable and beautifully themselves.

I’ve always believed that beauty treatments should enhance what you already have, rather than change the way you look. That’s why my approach to Permanent Makeup is centred around soft, natural and personalised results.

From Beauty Therapy to Permanent Makeup

I’ve worked in the Beauty Therapy industry for over 28 years, building my experience through working closely with clients and understanding what makes them feel comfortable and confident.

Over the years, I’ve seen how much a little definition to the brows, lips or eyes can make a difference to how a woman feels about herself.

This was one of the reasons I decided to train in Permanent Makeup.

I qualified in Permanent Makeup in 2025 and have loved developing this part of my business ever since.

For me, Permanent Makeup isn't about creating a “makeup look”. It’s about creating something that looks like you on your best day.

Why I Love Natural-Looking Permanent Makeup

One of the biggest concerns I hear from women considering Permanent Makeup is:

“I don't want my brows to look too dark or obvious.”

And I completely understand that.

Permanent Makeup has changed considerably over the years. Modern techniques allow us to create much softer, more subtle results, rather than the heavy, solid brows that people sometimes associate with cosmetic tattooing.

I particularly love creating soft Powder Brows that give the appearance of naturally defined brows, while still allowing your own features to shine through.

I also offer Lip Blush, which can add soft colour and definition to the lips, and subtle lash-line enhancement to gently define the eyes.

Your Treatment Should Be Bespoke to You

There isn't one brow shape, colour or technique that suits everyone.

Your age, skin, natural colouring, existing brows, facial features and personal preferences all need to be taken into consideration.

That's why consultation is such an important part of my process.

Before any treatment, we'll take the time to discuss what you'd like to achieve, look at your natural features and carefully design your shape.

You'll have the opportunity to ask questions and talk through any concerns before we begin.

There is never any pressure to go ahead with a treatment.

I want you to feel completely comfortable with your decision.

A Calm, Personal Experience

I now offer my Permanent Makeup treatments from my private home studio in Macclesfield, Cheshire.

I wanted to create an environment that feels calm, welcoming and personal, where each appointment is completely focused on you.

For many women, having Permanent Makeup can feel like a big decision, particularly if you've never had it before or you've had a disappointing experience in the past.

My aim is to make the whole experience as relaxed and reassuring as possible, from your first consultation through to your healed results.

Permanent Makeup That Looks Like You

For me, the best Permanent Makeup is the kind that doesn't immediately look like Permanent Makeup.

It's when someone notices that you look fresh, defined and polished, but can't quite put their finger on why.
