Treatment Experience

  • Most clients describe mild discomfort/scratching sensation rather than pain. A natural topical numbing cream containing clove, which acts as a natural anesthetic, is used to maintain comfort throughout the procedure. The client can also purchase from a pharmacy Emla (lidocaine) cream, which is an anesthetic cream. This can be applied one hour before appointment time, if the client is particularly worried about feeling uncomfortable during their procedure.  

  • Appointments typically last 2 hours, depending on the treatment area. This includes consultation, design, colour selection, and the procedure itself. 

  • You’ll receive preparation guidance beforehand. This usually includes avoiding alcohol, caffeine, certain skincare products, and sun exposure shortly before treatment. 

  • Most clients resume normal activities immediately, although mild redness or sensitivity can occur temporarily.  As the colour is around 50% darker than the colour it will heal to, it is recommended that you don’t have the procedure done just before a holiday or special occasion, as they need 5 days to heal and settle.

Results and Longevity 

  • Results typically last between one and three years depending on skin type, lifestyle, sun exposure and skincare habits. A top-up appointment is required after 6 weeks and annual appointments will maintain the colour vibrancy. 

  • Initial colour appears stronger immediately after treatment and softens as healing progresses over 7–14 days. Final results settle gradually. 

  • Yes. A Top-up session is recommended 6 weeks after the initial treatment to perfect colour and shape. 

  • In many cases, adjustments or corrections are possible. A consultation determines the best approach.

Safety and Aftercare 

  • When carried out by a trained professional using sterile equipment and high-quality pigments, permanent makeup is considered safe. The therapist must be insured and licensed by their local council to be able to practice their skill.  

  • Strict hygiene protocols are followed, including sterile equipment, professional-grade pigments, and a clean treatment environment. 

  • Some redness, tenderness or slight swelling is normal initially. Colour softens as the skin heals. Aftercare guidance will be provided to support optimal results. 

  • You’ll receive detailed aftercare instructions covering cleansing, moisturising, sun protection, and activities to avoid during healing. You will also be provided with an A&D vitamin healing cream, which has to be applied for the following 5 days after treatment.  

  • Yes, once healing is complete you can continue your normal beauty routine.
